Women's Lacrosse Vaults to Third in IWLCA, Lacrosse Magazine Polls

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 4, 2016) - Following a near-upset of No. 1 Adelphi University on Saturday, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team rose to third in Monday's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II rankings.

The Pioneers, who moved up after three consecutive weeks at No. 4 in the IWLCA poll, amassed 358 points in the voting.

LIU Post currently has the second-best scoring defense in the nation, limiting teams to an average of 4.33 goals per game. It is also outscoring its opposition by a margin of 9.00 goals per contest, which is second in Division II.

Individually, senior attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) leads the country in points per game (6.11), and places in the Top-5 in assists per game (3.78), assists (34) and points (55).

Between the pipes, sophomore cageminder Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) boasts the top goals-against average in Division II at 4.20. Her .596 save percentage ranks second amongst the nation's goaltenders.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and the Pioneers are back in action Wednesday (Apr. 6), when they host University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference tilt at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 4 p.m.
