CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 12, 2016) - The East Coast Conference awarded its weekly women's lacrosse honors Monday, and LIU Post junior attacker
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) was recognized as the co-player of the week by the league.
Bird led the Pioneers with a team-high 11 points (8 G, 3 A) and nine draw controls in a pair of ECC victories last week. Her eight goals also paced the green and gold.
Bird opened the week with a career-high seven-point performance (5 G, 2 A) in a 15-1 rout of University of Bridgeport last Wednesday (Apr. 6). Three days later, she collected four points (3 G, 1 A) and won five draws in a 19-0 blanking of University of the District of Columbia (Apr. 9).
Through 11 games, Bird has amassed 27 goals and 10 assists for 37 points. She currently ranks sixth in the ECC in draw controls (37) and ninth in goals (27). Her 27 tallies already matches her goal total from 2015.
Bird and the Pioneers return to action Wednesday (Apr. 13), when they take on ECC rival and No. 12/15 Dowling College at 4 p.m. at Golden Lions Field in Brookhaven.
