INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 9, 2016) - On Wednesday, the LIU Post women's swimming team began its quest for a national title at the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships at IUPUI Natatorium.
The Pioneers currently stand sixth after the opening day of the championship meet, amassing 47 points.
In the 200-yard medley relay, seniors
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom),
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) and
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and freshman
Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand) broke a school record, clocking a fifth-place 1:41.19.
Meanwhile, in the 50-yard freestyle, Brazier swam a sixth-place time of 23.24. Sophomore
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) was third in the consolation finals, posting a lifetime-best 23.41.
In the preliminaries of the 50-free, Jones and Johnstone individually clocked personal records of 23.71 and 24.00.
