PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Mar. 26, 2016) - Behind a career-best 11-point effort from senior attacker Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.), the No. 4/5 LIU Post women's lacrosse team captured an 18-6 victory versus Holy Family University in non-conference action Saturday at Tiger Field.

Delaney racked up four goals and seven assists and caused a turnover in the win. Senior defender/midfielder Honey Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) posted a five-point showing (4 G, 1 A). Freshman midfielder Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) scored three goals. Junior attacker Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) and red-shirt junior attacker Alexis Newman (Medford Lakes, N.J.) each added two goals and an assist.

Tied 1-1 with under 20 minutes remaining in the opening period, the Pioneers (7-1) closed out the half on a 7-1 run to carry an 8-2 lead into the break.

McKinney and Newman both found the back of the cage twice in the burst. Delaney, Bird and junior attacker Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) chipped in a goal apiece.

In the latter session, Holy Family (0-8) struck first less than a minute in, but LIU Post fired back with an overwhelming 10-2 response to put the game away for good.

Roche netted all four of her goals on the afternoon in the run. Freshman midfielders Trish Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y.) and Mackenzie Hitchcock (Medina, Ohio) contributed tallies, as well.

The Pioneers, who were 14-of-15 (93.3 percent) on clears, dominated the shot total (40-16) in the contest, while also holding a 33-18 advantage in shots and a 15-11 edge in draw controls.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalie Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and senior cageminder Kasey Kephart (Nesconset, N.Y.) combined for six saves. Their counterpart, Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md.), made 14 stops for the Tigers.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad are back at it next Saturday (Apr. 2), when they host No. 1/1 Adelphi University at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 1 p.m.
