BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2016) - The LIU Post men's basketball team lost by a 75-64 final to No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas College in an East Coast Conference tilt Wednesday at the Pratt Recreation Center.

Trailing 26-13 midway through the first half, the Pioneers (2-7, 1-1 ECC) rattled off a 14-2 run in a span of 3:39 to cut the deficit to 28-27 at the 5:38 mark.

Junior guard Kyle McLeggan (Jersey City, N.J.) recorded a team-leading 10 points in the burst. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers and capped off the streak with a fast-break lay-up. Senior forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) added a lay-up and two free throws.

However, the Spartans (8-0, 3-0 ECC) answered with a 15-3 response to bring a 43-30 lead at the intermission. Sophomore guard Jonathan Lawton (Williamstown, N.J.) wrapped up the run with a trifecta at the buzzer.

That proved to be all STAC needed, as the Spartans never relinquished their double-digit lead in the latter half of play.

Four different players scored in double figures for the Pioneers in the loss. Freshman forward Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.) totaled 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. McLeggan had 13 points and six rebounds in 31 minutes off the bench. Senior guard Jemal Mosley (Nanuet, N.Y.) pitched in 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Fellow senior guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) accumulated 10 points, five assists, three rebounds and two blocks.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and his LIU Post squad return to the hardwood next Wednesday (Dec. 14), when they face ECC nemesis Mercy College at 7:30 p.m. at Westchester Community College in Valhalla.
