Men's Basketball Loses at Merrimack, 84-72

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Dec. 30, 2016) - Despite shooting a sizzling 51.7 percent from the field, the LIU Post men's basketball team fell by an 84-72 decision to Merrimack College Friday in a non-conference showdown at Hammel Court.
Five different players scored in double figures for the Pioneers (4-8) in the loss. Senior forward
Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) led the way with a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds). Freshman guard
Jared Rivers (Westbury, N.Y.) poured in 11 points in 23 minutes off the bench. Senior guards
Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) and
Jemal Mosley (Nanuet, N.Y.) and freshman forward
Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.) all had 10 points. Elisias also grabbed nine rebounds and swatted away five blocks.
Trailing 53-52 in a game that featured eight tied scores and 15 lead changes, the Warriors (9-3) used a 16-2 run midway through the second half to rally for the win. Freshman guard/forward Devon Moore (Hanover, Pa.) paced the hosts with five points in the spurt. Senior forward Riley Calzonetti (Neptune City, N.J.) netted the go-ahead lay-up to push Merrimack in front for good.
Though the Pioneers subsequently closed the gap to 72-64 on a Dotson lay-up, the Warriors re-claimed their double-digit lead, via a Moore three-pointer, and never looked back.
