Women's Basketball Loses at No. 11 Bentley, 74-54

WALTHAM, Mass. (Dec. 18, 2016) - On Sunday, the LIU Post women's basketball team lost 74-54 to No. 11 Bentley University in a non-conference showdown at the Dana Center.

Sophomore guard Shannon Doyle (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) had 13 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists in the loss. Sophomore forward Sasha Patterson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman forward Mikaiya Moore (Amityville, N.Y.) poured in 12 points apiece. Patterson also totaled eight rebounds and three assists, while Moore chipped in five rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

The Pioneers (5-6) shot a sizzling 50.0 percent (15-of-30) from field-goal range in the opening 20 minutes, en route to owning a commanding 36-25 lead at the break.

Leading 25-23 with just over five minutes left in the second quarter, the green and gold ended the half on an 11-2 run to take a double-digit advantage into the locker room. Doyle collected the first six points of the burst. Moore and Patterson closed out the period with back-to-back lay-ups.

In the third quarter, the Falcons (10-2) came all the way back to take a five-point lead (47-42) at the 2:21 mark, via a 22-6 streak. Five different players scored for the hosts in the outburst.

From there, Bentley, which shot 50.0 percent (30-of-60) from the floor in the contest, never looked back, as the Falcons eventually widened the gap to double digits with 3:29 remaining in regulation.

Head Coach Deirdre Moore and her LIU Post squad return to action on Thursday, Dec. 29, when they face Assumption College in a non-conference tilt at 5:30 p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
