CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post volleyball junior outside/right-side hitter
Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was selected as the East Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Valenza slammed down a team-high 40 kills on a .292 hitting percentage in a 3-0 week for the Pioneers.
She collected 13 kills, eight digs and five blocks in a 3-0 sweep of NYIT last Tuesday (Nov. 1), before posting a double-double (10 kills, 18 digs) and adding a pair of blocks in a 3-0 victory at Mercy on Thursday (Nov. 3).
Valenza wrapped up the week with a 17-kill, 12-dig performance in a 3-0 win against Queens on Saturday (Nov. 5). That match also saw Valenza eclipse the 1,000-kill milestone for her career.
Valenza currently ranks fourth in the ECC this season in kills with 321. She also places fifth amongst the league in blocks (63).
Valenza and her LIU Post side wrap up the 2016 regular season on Thursday (Nov. 10), when they host Molloy College in an ECC showdown at the Pratt Recreation Center at 7 p.m. in Brookville.
