CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2016) - On Monday, the LIU Post women's soccer team had seven players recognized to the 2016 All-East Coast Conference Team, as announced by the league office.

Senior back Kristin Brandman (East Northport, N.Y.) highlighted the list with an All-ECC first-team nod. She has started all 19 games for the Pioneers, and leads a defensive unit that has yielded the fewest goals (10) of any team in the ECC.

The green and gold had five representatives on the All-ECC Second Team. They were senior midfielder Sarah McGarry (Islip, N.Y.), junior midfielder Klara Berggren (Stockholm, Sweden), junior back Kristen Breihof (Levittown, N.Y.), sophomore netminder Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) and sophomore forward Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden).

McGarry has made 17 starts in the Pioneer midfield in 2016, tallying a goal and two assists for four points. Her lone marker of the year ignited a 3-2 come-from-behind overtime victory against Wilmington on Sept. 21.

Berggren is currently tied for the team lead in goals (5) and ranks second on the squad in scoring with 11 points. She also has three game-winning tallies to her credit, which are tied for third-most in the ECC.

Breihof took the lead on corner kicks, while playing a key role at center back for LIU Post. Her efforts assisted the Pioneer defense in putting together an eight-game scoreless streak from Oct. 10 to Nov. 2.

Between the pipes, Eklow has a conference-leading 14-3-2 record with an ECC-best 0.53 goals-against average and 10 shutouts. Additionally, she currently boasts the league's second-highest save percentage at .875.

Huntzinger has been the driving force behind the LIU Post attack. She has five goals (three game-winners) and five assists this season for a team-high 15 points. All three of her deciding goals have come in the second half of play.

Freshman back Paige Sherlock (West Islip, N.Y.) was named to the All-ECC Third Team. She has teamed up with Brandman and Breihof in holding the opposition to an ECC-best average of 0.51 goals per contest.
