BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 19, 2016) - Freshman forward Mikaiya Moore (Amityville, N.Y.) poured in a game-high 27 points Saturday to lift the LIU Post women's basketball team to a 78-67 win against Holy Family University in a non-conference tilt at the Pratt Recreation Center.

Moore shot a sparkling 11-of-13 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line. She also grabbed nine rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

Trailing 3-2 just over two minutes into the first quarter, the Pioneers (2-2) rattled off a 15-3 run in a span of 5:27 to grab a 17-6 advantage at the 2:30 mark. Moore and red-shirt freshman guard Robyn Francis (Rosedale, N.Y.) combined for 12 points in the burst.

In the second quarter, LIU Post, which led 23-12 after one period of play, increased its lead to as large as 44-22 on a Francis jumper with 1:39 remaining in the opening half.

The Pioneers eventually carried a commanding 19-point cushion (44-25) into the locker room, and never looked back from there.

In the fourth quarter, Holy Family (0-4) managed to close the gap to 76-67 with 1:39 to go, but LIU Post kept its opposition off the board for the remainder of the contest to seal the win.

Francis collected 13 points, six rebounds and three assists in the victory. Sophomore forward Sasha Patterson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) totaled 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Senior guard Kristen Olsen (Staten Island, N.Y.) added seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal.

Head Coach Deirdre Moore and the Pioneers return to the hardwood on Wednesday (Nov. 23), when they open their 2016-17 East Coast Conference slate against New York Institute of Technology at the Pratt Recreation Center at 5 p.m.
