ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (Nov. 19, 2016) - The LIU Post men's basketball team earned its first win of the 2016-17 season Saturday, routing Concordia College, 90-60, at the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament, hosted by Dominican College at the Hennessy Center.

Junior guard Kyle McLeggan (Jersey City, N.J.) scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting in the win. Senior forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) amassed 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Freshman guard Jared Rivers (Westbury, N.Y.) had 15 points and three assists, while freshman forward Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.) chipped in 12 points, nine boards and two blocks.

As a team, the Pioneers (1-3) shot 44.7 percent (34-of-76) from the field and 47.1 percent (16-of-34) from beyond the arc in the contest.

Tied at 25-all with under seven minutes left in the opening session, LIU Post closed out the half on a 25-6 run to take an overwhelming 50-31 lead into halftime. The Pioneers knocked down six three-pointers in the burst, led by four from Rivers. Dotson buried a pair of trifectas.

The green and gold kept their foot to the gas pedal in the latter 20 minutes of play. The Pioneers opened the period on an 8-3 spurt to widen the gap to 58-34 at the 17:58 mark. Elisias got the run started with a pair of free throws. Senior guard Jemal Mosley (Nanuet, N.Y.) followed with a trey. Dotson wrapped up the streak with a put-back dunk.

LIU Post eventually built as much as a 30-point advantage (90-60) on a three-ball by freshman guard Tracy Cleckley (Queens, N.Y.) at the 2:18 mark.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and the Pioneers are back in action Tuesday (Nov. 22), when they face Le Moyne College in a non-conference showdown in Syracuse. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
