Men's Basketball Comes Up Short at Dominican, 66-50

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (Nov. 18, 2016) - On Friday night, the LIU Post men's basketball team fell to Dominican College, 66-50, at the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament at the Hennessy Center in Orangeburg.
In a game in which the Pioneers (0-3) never led, the Chargers (4-0) closed out the half on an 11-5 run to take a 25-19 lead into the break. Sophomore guard E.J. Smith (Nyack, N.Y.) drilled a pair of baskets in the burst. Freshman guard Matthew Latka (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) added a three-pointer.
During the second half, Dominican continued to add to its lead. The hosts began the period on a 24-7 streak to open up a 23-point advantage (49-26) at the 9:12 mark.
Junior forward Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) accounted for the first eight points of the spurt. Freshman guard Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) contributed a pair of treys.
Senior guard
Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) had six points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the loss. Senior forward
Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) added nine points, five boards, one assist and one steal. Junior guard
Kyle McLeggan (Jersey City, N.J.) and freshman guard
Jared Rivers (Westbury, N.Y.) each scored seven points. Rivers also pulled down five rebounds.

Erik Smiles and his LIU Post squad return to action Saturday (Nov. 19), when they conclude play at the Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament against Concordia College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
