CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 15, 2016) - The East Coast Conference gave out its final weekly volleyball awards for 2016 on Monday, and LIU Post freshman setter
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.) was named the league's rookie of the week.
Akouri-Tejedor dished out a match- and season-high 47 assists in a 3-1 win over Molloy last Thursday (Nov. 10). She also recorded seven kills on a .308 attack percentage to help the Pioneers secure a berth in the ECC Championship.
This season, Akouri-Tejedor currently ranks ninth in the ECC in assists (292). Her 292 helpers are also the third-most amongst freshman setters in the conference.
Akouri-Tejedor and her LIU Post side are back in action Friday (Nov. 18), when they battle top-seeded Daemen College in an East Coast Conference Championship semifinal in Amherst. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
