BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 13, 2016) - Senior guard
Jemal Mosley (Nanuet, N.Y.) scored a game-high 25 points Sunday, but it wasn't enough, as the LIU Post men's basketball team lost to Wilmington University, 83-77, at the Pratt Recreation Center.
Senior forward
Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) amassed 21 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double. Senior guard
Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) had 11 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and two blocks.
Tied 7-7 nearly five minutes into the game, the Pioneers (0-2), who shot a sizzling 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from downtown in the first half, reeled off an 18-6 run in a span of 4:56 to grab a 35-22 advantage at the 7:16 mark.
Dotson ignited the streak with back-to-back lay-ups. Hall and red-shirt junior guard
Aary Bibens (Bennington, Vt.) each knocked down a trifecta in the outburst.
The green and gold eventually led 35-22 with 3:06 remaining, but the Wildcats (2-0) fought back to close the gap to 38-33 at the intermission.
Early in the second half, LIU Post built its lead back up to nine points (43-34), after Mosley knocked down one of his six treys on the afternoon.
Wilmington did not go away though. The Wildcats slowly chipped away and went in front for good (66-63) on a Paul Medlin (Baltimore, Md.) three-point play with 5:30 to go.
