Eklow Earns ECC Defensive Player of the Week Nod

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) repeated as the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Eklow, who also garnered the same honor on Oct. 18, made nine saves and posted a pair of shutouts to extend the Pioneers' unbeaten streak to 10 games.

She recorded seven stops Thursday (Oct. 20), including five in the first half, in a 1-0 double-overtime win at Molloy. Then, on Sunday (Oct. 23), Eklow had two saves in a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas.

In 2016, Eklow currently boasts a league-leading 11-2-2 record with 47 saves and an ECC-best 0.54 goals-against average. Her seven shutouts are also tops in the conference.

Eklow and the Pioneers return to the pitch Wednesday (Oct. 26), when they take on Pace University in a non-conference showdown at 7 p.m. in Pleasantville.
