BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 18, 2016) - On Tuesday, sophomore outside hitter Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) recorded a match-high 16 kills, but it wasn't enough, as the LIU Post volleyball team lost 3-1 (11-25, 23-25, 25-18, 23-25) to East Coast Conference rival University of Bridgeport at the Pratt Recreation Center.

In addition to her 16 kills, Londot, who hit at a .359 clip, added 17 digs for a double-double. Senior middle hitter Taryn McCullouch (Buena Park, Calif.) and junior outside/middle/right-side hitter Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) put down 12 kills apiece. McCullouch also posted a .321 attack percentage in the process.

Following a 25-11 opening-set loss, the Pioneers (7-11, 2-5 ECC) jumped out to a 19-11 advantage in the second game. However, the Purple Knights (10-9, 7-1 ECC) used a 14-4 run to rally to a 25-23 victory. Freshman outside/right-side hitter Claire Anderson (Oak Harbor, Wash.) had three kills in the comeback for Bridgeport.

In the third set, LIU Post led 8-6, until a 7-2 run widened the gap to 15-8. Londot registered a kill and served a pair of aces in the burst. Valenza and McCullouch notched a kill apiece.

The Pioneers eventually built as much as a 22-14 lead on a Valenza kill, and cruised to a 25-18 win to force a fourth set.

The fourth game featured a back-and-forth affair between the two squads. Tied 22-22 late in the set, the visitors capitalized on a pair of LIU Post errors to establish a match-point opportunity. Two serves later, a Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) kill clinched the four-set win for Bridgeport.

Head Coach Amanda Ostapow and the Pioneers return to action Saturday (Oct. 22), when they face Southern New Hampshire University and the College of Saint Rose in a tri-match at Saint Rose's Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium in Albany. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
