Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) earned defensive player of the week recognition from the league.
In three starts last week, Eklow made eight saves and posted a pair of shutouts. She turned aside four shots in a scoreless tie Friday (Oct. 14) at Roberts Wesleyan, and added another four stops in a 1-0 win at Daemen on Sunday (Oct. 16).
Eklow, who has the second-most shutouts (6) in the conference in 2016, currently boasts a league-leading 9-2-2 record with 38 saves and a 0.62 goals-against average. Her 0.62 GAA is the second-lowest amongst ECC netminders.
Eklow and the Pioneers return to the pitch Thursday (Oct. 20), when they face Molloy College in an ECC showdown at 4 p.m. in Rockville Centre.
