BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2016) - Freshman middle/right-side hitter Lea Brady (Woodbridge, Va.) tallied a match-high 17 kills on a .552 hitting percentage to send the LIU Post volleyball team to a 3-2 win (25-18, 22-25, 25-5, 21-25, 15-11) against Saint Anselm College in non-conference action Friday at the Pratt Recreation Center.

In the first set, the Pioneers (7-10) came back from an early 3-1 deficit to grab a 15-8 lead. Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) served six straight points in the run, including a pair of aces.

The hosts built as much as a 10-point advantage (20-10) in the opening game, and went on to claim a 25-18 victory, on an ace by junior outside/middle/right-side hitter Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.).

LIU Post then lost a hard-fought 25-22 decision to Saint Anselm (14-3) in the second set, before an offensive onslaught in the third game put the green and gold back in front in the match.

The Pioneers recorded a stellar .500 attack clip in the third set, en route to a 25-5 win. The green and gold had five service aces and five blocks in the game, while Brady individually provided five kills.

The two teams eventually played a fifth set to decide the contest. Valenza and Brady notched two kills apiece down the stretch to rally the green and gold from a 10-9 deficit to a 15-11 victory.

Valenza posted 16 kills and 13 digs in the match for a double-double. Senior middle hitter Taryn McCullouch (Buena Park, Calif.) totaled seven kills and five blocks. Sophomore middle/right-side hitter Elise Strange (Chesapeake, Va.) added six kills and three blocks. Londot pitched in eight kills and 16 digs. Sophomore setter Giulia Genna (Rome, Italy) had 42 assists and 12 digs for a double-double.
