ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Jan. 6, 2016) - The LIU Post men's basketball team shot a superb 56.7 percent from the floor and 57.9 percent from deep Wednesday, en route to a 94-74 triumph versus Molloy College in East Coast Conference action at Quealy Gymnasium.
Tied 55-55 more than three minutes into the second half, the Pioneers (10-3, 5-0 ECC) put the game out of reach with a 15-5 burst over a span of 2:49. That put LIU Post ahead 70-60 at the 13:58 mark.
Senior guard
Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) accounted for five of the run's first seven points. Red-shirt sophomore guard
Aary Bibens (Bennington, Vt.) knocked down a pair of three-pointers.
Molloy (3-9, 1-3 ECC) subsequently managed to cut the deficit to six (70-64) with 13:18 remaining, but the green and gold eventually re-gained their double-digit lead and built a 20-point advantage.
In the opening 20 minutes of play, neither team led by more than two possessions. Sophomore forward
Hunter Powell (Tustin, Mich.) scored five points in the last 2:48 of the half for the visitors, cutting the Pioneers' deficit to 48-47 at the break.
Five players scored in double figures for LIU Post in the victory. Junior forward
Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) tied his career-high with a game-best 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting. He also grabbed down nine rebounds. Junior forward
Barrington Alston (Wilmington, Del.) provided 16 points (7-11 FG) and eight boards in 28 minutes off the bench.

Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) accumulated 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Burns, who dished out a game-high eight assists, and senior guard
Akosa Maduegbunam (Hyde Park, Mass.) poured in 11 points apiece.

Erik Smiles and the Pioneers now return home to square off with ECC rival Queens College on Saturday (Jan. 9) at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m.
