KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2016) - The No. 22 LIU Post women's swimming team took first place in all 14 events Saturday, as it defeated Kutztown University, 151-98, and Millersville University, 153-74, at Keystone Pool.
The two victories secured a fifth-straight winning season for the Pioneers, who improved to 4-3 in dual meets.
Freshman
Caitlin Johnstone (Ashburton, New Zealand) won a team-high three individual events. She posted top marks in the 100- (1:07.78) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.45) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.18). Johnstone also swam the second leg of LIU Post's 200-yard medley relay, which opened the tri-meet with a first-place and pool record 1:48.25.
Four different swimmers earned two wins apiece. Senior
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (53.02) and backstroke (58.58) events. Fellow senior
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) raced to pool-record times of 2:06.21 and 2:08.01 in the 200-yard butterfly and backstroke, respectively.
In addition to clocking a second-place 54.66 in the 100-free, sophomore
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) breezed past her opposition in the 50-free (25.05) and 100-fly (1:00.68). Freshman
Eline Swensen (Langhus, Norway) was first in the two long-distance events; the 500- (5:17.12) and 1,000-yard freestyle (10:48.21).
Freshman
Karis Fuller (London, England) earned a first-place finish of 1:59.37 in the 200-free, while taking second in the 200 IM (2:16.09) and fourth in the 100-fly (1:05.34).
Senior
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) swam to second-place showings in the 100- (59.71) and 200-back (2:13.40), and helped the 400-yard freestyle relay to a first-place time of 3:38.31.
Sophomore
Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and freshman
Elin Kvarnemar (Varberg, Sweden) individually finished third in the 1,000-free (11:48.24) and 200-back (2:17.13). Senior
Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) came in fourth in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the pad at 5:42.62. Freshman
Brianna LiCausi (Howard Beach, N.Y.) was fifth in the 100-free with a 57.15 clocking.

Michael Travers and the Pioneers have one final tune-up before the Metropolitan Championships. They will return to action next Saturday (Feb. 6) at the New York University Invitational at 10 a.m. in New York, N.Y.
