WACO, Texas (Sept. 7, 2015) - The American Football Coaches' Association recently released its first regular-season poll of the 2015 season for Division II, and the LIU Post football team continued to earn votes in the Top-25 discussion.
LIU Post was one of 46 schools to claim votes in the tally, increasing to six votes from the three awarded to the Pioneers on Aug. 17, and remains one of two institutions represented from the Northeast-10 Conference.
The green and gold's increased AFCA recognition comes after a 41-40 victory over East Stroudsburg University last Thursday night.
Minnesota State University-Mankato remained atop the poll, while Colorado State University-Pueblo stood pat in second. The University of West Georgia and Northwest Missouri State University, both of whom garnered one first-place vote, were third and fourth, respectively. Pittsburg State University rounded out the Top-5.
The Pioneers continue their 2015 campaign Saturday (Sept. 12), when they host Assumption College in their 2015 home and Northeast-10 Conference opener at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville, N.Y. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
