McCann, Burns Named to 2014-15 NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jul. 30, 2015) - On Thursday, LIU Post men's basketball senior forward Charles McCann (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) and junior guard Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) were selected to the 2014-15 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season, with a record number of 1,000 student-athletes from more than 350 colleges and universities. 

To be eligible for the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior varsity player, meet a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year, and have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.

McCann, a Business Administration major, held a 3.34 GPA in his final season in a Pioneer uniform. He started in 28 of 30 contests, averaging 7.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. McCann also shot 48.8 percent (83-of-170) from the field and posted one double-double on the year. In an 84-69 win over Concordia on Nov. 23, the Springfield Gardens native poured in a career-high 20 points.

Meanwhile, Burns, a 3.28 GPA student in Health Sciences, averaged 6.6 points per game at the point guard position, along with 4.3 assists per contest, the fifth-most in the East Coast Conference. He was one of the green and gold's primary deep threats as well, boasting the second-best three-point field-goal percentage on the team at .395 (34-of-86).
