BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (May 21, 2015) - LIU Post women's lacrosse senior defender
Emily Hanifan (Hicksville, N.Y.) and men's soccer senior forward
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) have been lauded as 2014-15 East Coast Conference Scholar-Athletes, it was announced by the league on Monday.
Hanifan, who boasted a 3.67 grade-point average in Business Administration, was tabbed as the ECC Co-Defensive Player of the Year in her final year in a Pioneer uniform. She also garnered IWLCA All-North Region first-team and All-America second-team accolades.
The defender collected 27 ground balls and caused 17 turnovers this season. Additionally, Hanifan achieved a special milestone by scoring her first career goal in LIU Post's 18-1 win over Queens on Apr. 26. She tacked on two more goals to her resume in an 18-5 ECC semifinal triumph over Molloy on Apr. 30.
A fellow Business Administration major, Austboe was dubbed the Daktronics Division II East Region Player of the Year in 2015. He was recognized as the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Capital One Academic All-American of the Year for the second time in as many seasons, as well.
In his senior campaign, Austboe collected the ninth-most goals (17) in Division II, along with the 11th-most points (38). The Stavanger, Norway native has maintained a 3.88 GPA throughout his academic career.
