Tyuan Williams (Newark, N.J.) of the LIU Post men's basketball team has been named to the All-Met Division II second-team by the Met Basketball Writers Association, it was released Friday.
The postseason honor is the third for Williams this year. He pocketed All-East Coast Conference second-team and ECC All-Tournament accolades in March.
Williams helped the Pioneers to an overall record of 17-13 and an appearance in the East Coast Conference Championship semifinals in 2014-15. It was LIU Post's first trip to the semis of the league tournament since 2012.
Williams paved the way for the green and gold in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. He also shot 52.3 percent (126-of-241) from the floor and 77.2 percent (78-of-101) from the line, while amassing 16 blocks and 11 steals.
Williams reached double figures in scoring a total of 21 times this season, including 17 straight occasions from Jan. 7 to Mar. 7. He collected a team-leading six double-doubles and poured in a season-high 24 points against NYIT on Jan. 20.
The Newark native's shooting clip from the floor and rebound average ranked fifth in the East Coast Conference. His 71 offensive rebounds and 185 total boards were ninth-best.
