Women's Fencing Concludes Debut Season at NCAA Regionals

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Mar. 9, 2015) - The LIU Post women's fencing team wrapped up its inaugural season by sending three competitors to Sunday's NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at NYU's Coles Sports Center.
Freshman
Chantelle Duncan (Valley Stream, N.Y.), sophomore
Kirstan Shaw (South Setauket, N.Y.) and senior
Alexa Parry (Setauket, N.Y.) each won one bout in their first-round pools in the epee discipline. Duncan recorded a team-high finish, placing in a tie for 44th out of the 58 competitors. Parry and Shaw finished 52nd and 53rd, respectively, on account of points.
Duncan earned 14 total points over the five bouts, picking up a 5-4 win versus Wellesley's Kathryn Ledbetter. The freshman also battled to a 5-4 loss to Anne Oursler of Tufts in pool play competition. Parry scored a 5-3 victory over MIT's Nicole Kogan in her first-round action and Shaw posted a 5-3 triumph against Rochelle Reyes of Queens.
