Former Pioneer To Be Inducted Into ECAC Hall of Fame

DANBURY, Conn. (Mar. 20, 2015) - The Eastern College Athletic Conference has announced the inaugural class of the ECAC Hall of Fame, presented by Webster Bank. The 25-person class, which spans over the entire 75-year history of the ECAC, recognizes a diverse representation of former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, teams, officials, support staff, and supporters from across decades.

Former LIU Post quarterback Tom Ehrhardt (Queens, N.Y.) is among the inductees. Ehrhardt played one season in Brookville, before transferring to the University of Rhode Island. The signal-caller eventually signed with the New York Jets and later went on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals. During the 1981 season, Ehrhardt, a freshman, threw for 2,179 yards and 20 touchdowns. In his final game as a Pioneer, he was 34-of-54 for 432 yards and six touchdowns against Merchant Marine.

Honorees for the first-ever class have been selected for outstanding achievements, service, dedication, commitment, and contributions to the ECAC, championships, sponsored sports, programs and events.

"It is truly an honor to induct this special group of people as the inaugural class of the ECAC Hall of Fame," said ECAC President & CEO Dr. Kevin T. McGinniss. "These 25 individuals have left an indelible mark on this organization and will now be forever recognized for their outstanding contributions and achievements."

The class will officially be inducted on April 17, 2015 at the ECAC Hall of Fame Gala and Induction Ceremony at the Matrix Conference & Banquet Center in Danbury.
