Women's Lacrosse Ranked Eighth in National Top-20 Polls

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 9, 2015) - On Monday, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team slid to eighth in the IWLCA and Lacrosse Magazine Division II Top-20 rankings.

The Pioneers fell four spots from last week, following their 9-6 loss to then-No. 7 Le Moyne last Saturday (Mar. 7). Senior midfielder Jenna Pierro (Holbrook, N.Y.), the reigning East Coast Conference Player of the Week, had two goals in the defeat.

For the third-consecutive week, Adelphi was the near-unanimous No. 1 in the IWLCA poll. The Panthers collected 399 points and 19 of a possible 20 first-place votes. Lock Haven and Lindenwood (Mo.) remained second and third, respectively.

Le Moyne made the biggest jump, climbing three spots to No. 4. Meanwhile, Limestone, after starting the 2015 season at 6-0, stood pat in fifth.

In the Lacrosse Magazine tally, the top four teams (Adelphi, Lock Haven, Lindenwood, Limestone) held court for a second-straight week. Le Moyne jumped ahead two notches to No. 5.

Queens (N.C.) suffered the largest drop-off, falling from 10th to 20th, on the heels of a 14-12 loss to unranked Belmont Abbey on Wednesday (Mar. 4). The Royals also dipped to 14th in the IWLCA ledger.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad return to action Thursday (Mar. 12), when they face Bentley under the lights at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m.
