BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 1, 2015) - Senior guard P.J. Torres (New Rochelle, N.Y.) drilled the game-winning one-handed jumper Sunday with seven seconds remaining in regulation, as the LIU Post men's basketball team upended Roberts Wesleyan, 65-64, in its 2014-15 regular-season finale at the Pratt Recreation Center.

The win secures the No. 4 seed for the Pioneers (16-12, 11-9 ECC) in the East Coast Conference Championship. LIU Post will host fifth-seeded Molloy on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a quarterfinal contest.

Up 14-12 more than five minutes into the game, the green and gold went on an 18-4 run in a seven-minute stretch to widen their advantage to 32-16 at the 7:21 mark. Senior forward Tyuan Williams (Newark, N.J.) and junior guard Devon McMillan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored four points apiece in the streak. Sophomore forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) capped it with back-to-back dunks.

The Pioneers would eventually take a double-digit lead (40-29) into halftime. They capitalized on transition opportunities in the first 20 minutes, tallying nearly half their points (19) on the fast break.

Roberts Wesleyan (10-16, 6-14 ECC) didn't go away quietly, however. In the second half, the Redhawks relentlessly chipped away at the deficit and grabbed a one-point edge (62-61) with 2:43 to go, off a pair of Tyrel Dixon (Tobyhanna, Pa.) free throws.

The visitors maintained their slight lead well into the last minute of regulation, but Torres knocked down the game-winning basket in the final seconds to clinch the win for LIU Post.

Williams, McMillan and Torres all poured in a team-high 13 points. Williams also grabbed seven rebounds, while Torres added five boards, four assists and three steals. Dotson totaled nine points, five rebounds and one block. Senior forward Charles McCann (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) pitched in six boards, four points and two blocks. Junior guard Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) dished out a game-high six assists.

Heading into a postseason match-up with Molloy, the Pioneers and Lions split the regular-season series. LIU Post won the most recent showdown, 61-56, at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre.
