NORFOLK, Va. (Feb. 24, 2015) - The LIU Post women's swimming team continues to excel not only in the pool, but also in the classroom. The Pioneers boasted the top grade-point average for the Fall 2014 semester in not just Division II, but across all divisions of swimming.
The announcement from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) came one day after the team was successful in winning its third-consecutive Metropolitan Conference Championship.
The green and gold sported a team GPA of 3.71 in the fall semester, which ties with Division III Luther College for the highest grade-point average in the NCAA. The achievement marks the seventh-straight season under the direction of head coach
Maureen Travers (Levittown, N.Y.) that LIU Post has held one of the top two spots in the academic annals of women's swimming.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
The LIU Post women's swimming team will next compete at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. from Mar. 11-15.
