BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 21, 2015) - On Saturday, the LIU Post men's basketball team rallied from a 15-point first-half hole to defeat East Coast Conference foe Queens, 62-46, at the Pratt Recreation Center.

Despite trailing 17-2 from the onset of the game, the Pioneers (14-11, 9-8 ECC) responded with an overwhelming 29-3 run over the final 12:42 of the half. Sophomore forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) accounted for 16 points, including three dunks, one of which was a put-back at the buzzer. Senior guard P.J. Torres (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) added five points apiece.

LIU Post would bring a 31-20 cushion into the intermission. In the first 20 minutes, the green and gold outscored the Knights (6-18, 6-11 ECC) by an 18-4 count in the paint, 7-1 on second-chance opportunities and 29-2 off the bench.

During the second half, Queens managed to close the gap to seven points (31-24) just 2:01 into the period, but a 10-2 answer by the hosts put the game away for good. Torres netted two buckets on the fast break. Junior guard Devon McMillan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) capped off the spurt with a fade-away jumper.

Dotson collected his third double-double of the season (first since Dec. 6). He amassed a season-high 24 points (10-17 FG) and pulled down 10 rebounds in 28 minutes of action. Torres compiled 13 points, eight boards, four assists and four steals. Williams added 11 points and nine rebounds, while McMillan contributed five points, one assist and one steal.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and the Pioneers return to action Tuesday (Feb. 24), when they wrap up the road portion of their 2014-15 schedule at next-door neighbor and ECC rival NYIT in the second edition of the "Battle of the Boulevard". Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
