WILMINGTON, Del. (Nov. 15, 2015) - Junior guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) poured in a game- and career-high 26 points Sunday, as the LIU Post men's basketball team defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 79-72, at the Delaware Express Tip-Off Invitational at the Joseph West Jones College Center.

Hall, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, shot 8-of-16 from the floor in the win, including a 4-of-6 clip from downtown. He also swiped six steals and pulled down five rebounds. Junior forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.), an All-Tournament Team selection, posted his second-straight double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds). Junior guard Bryant Webb (Parlin, N.J.) scored 11 points and dished out six assists. Senior forward Michael Phillip (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added eight points and six boards off the bench.

Tied 29-29 with over three minutes left in the first half, senior guard Devon McMillan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) buried a three, and Phillip followed with a lay-up to give the Pioneers (2-0) a five-point edge at the 2:25 mark. Phillip later put down a dunk as time expired to send the green and gold into the break with a 40-33 advantage .

In the latter period, the Lightning (0-2) rallied from a double-digit deficit to take the lead (58-57) on a jumper by junior center Elijah Tillman (Garnersville, N.Y.) with 7:07 remaining.

However, a Hunter Powell (Tustin, Mich.) dunk on the subsequent possession by LIU Post re-gained the lead for the visitors, which the Pioneers never relinquished from that point on.

The green and gold eventually built a seven-point cushion (75-68) in the final two-plus minutes of regulation to seal their second-consecutive win to start the 2015-16 season.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and the Pioneers return to the court Saturday (Nov. 21), when they host Post University in the LIU Post Thanksgiving Classic at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville, N.Y. Tip-off is set for 3:15 p.m.
