Women's Tennis Loses at No. 26 Concordia, 6-0

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2015) - On Thursday, the LIU Post women's tennis team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its 2015 schedule with a 6-0 loss to No. 26 Concordia College at the Meyers Tennis Center.
The doubles matches were not played, as the contest was called for darkness after singles play concluded.
Freshman
Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) was handed her first defeat at the top-singles flight. After taking the opening set (6-1) from 27th-ranked Costanza Mecchi (Rome, Italy), Arthur lost the next two by the scores of 6-1 and 6-3.
Senior
Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and junior
Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) also went the distance for the Pioneers (3-5).
In second singles, Fatchikova won the first set, 6-2, against Linda Eliasson (Gothenberg, Sweden), but dropped 6-4 and 6-1 decisions in the second and third.
Meanwhile, Kewalramani forced a third set, following a 6-4 win, but was handed an identical 6-4 defeat by Antonia Conze (Willich, Germany) to wrap up the fourth-singles match.
Head Coach
Walter Giacometti and his LIU Post squad return to the courts Wednesday (Oct. 14), when they square off with Caldwell College at 3:30 p.m. in Brookville.
