BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 7, 2015) - Freshman midfielder/defender Bailey Martin (Honesdale, Pa.) notched her first collegiate goal Wednesday, but it wasn't enough, as the LIU Post field hockey team lost 3-1 to Adelphi University in a Northeast-10 Conference showdown at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Though the Panthers (7-3, 4-1 NE-10) took an early 2-0 lead, Martin cut the Pioneers' (5-5, 2-4 NE-10) deficit in half in the 29th minute. On a cross-pass from senior forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.), Bailey beat Adelphi sophomore goalie Amanda Gargiulo (Westbury, N.Y.) to the left post for her first-ever goal at LIU Post.

In the second half, the Panthers came out strong, challenging Pioneers' junior goalie Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.), who was up to the task of stopping the first two shots she faced.

However, in the 45th minute, Adelphi got some insurance. Junior forward Lena Pollich (Massapequa, N.Y.) tallied her second marker of the contest to extend the Panthers' advantage to 3-1.

That proved to be all the visitors needed, as LIU Post was held to just one shot on goal in the final 25 minutes.

Between the pipes, Parks made four saves for the Pioneers. Her counterpart, Gargiulo, recorded five stops for the Panthers.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad are back in action Friday (Oct. 9), when they host Lindenwood University in a non-conference tilt at 2:30 p.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
