BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2015) - Despite two goals from junior midfielder Steph Mocerino (Andover, N.J.), the LIU Post field hockey team lost 3-2 to No. 1 East Stroudsburg University in non-conference action Monday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The defeat snapped a five-game winning streak for the Pioneers, who fell to 10-6 on the season. Meanwhile, the Warriors improved to mark of 14-3 in 2015.

It didn't take long for the green and gold to get on the scoreboard. Just 3:10 into the contest, she fired a shot from the left side of the circle into the cage to give LIU Post a 1-0 edge.

Then, in the 23rd minute, Mocerino tacked on another, in similar fashion. From left of the cage, she ripped a shot off the pad of ESU junior goalie Danielle Ard (Mifflinburg, Pa.), making it a 2-0 game.

The Pioneers would hold a 2-1 advantage at the break, as senior forward/midfielder Ally Roth (Scotrun, Pa.) connected on her penalty stroke opportunity to cut the Warriors' deficit in half.

LIU Post nearly re-gained their two-goal cushion before halftime, but senior forward Keliann Margiotta's (Sewell, N.J.) shot at a wide-open cage was stopped by an East Stroudsburg defender.

Though the hosts dominated the shot count (12-5) in the game, the Warriors struck for two goals on three shots in the latter 35 minutes to seal the come-from-behind victory.

In the final seconds, the Pioneers, trailing 3-2, earned two penalty corners in an effort to try and tie the game. However, a last-ditch shot attempt by Mocerino went wide of the cage.

Between the pipes, junior goalie Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) had one save for LIU Post. Her counterpart, Ard, recorded five saves for East Stroudsburg.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and the Pioneers are back in action Wednesday (Oct. 28), when they return to Northeast-10 Conference play at Bentley University at 7 p.m. in Waltham, Mass.
