BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 17, 2015) - A 10th-minute goal by freshman forward/midfielder Emily Miller (Bridgewater, N.J.) was all it took Saturday for the LIU Post field hockey team to beat Saint Michael's College, 1-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The win, the Pioneers' third in a row and fifth in their last seven contests, improved the green and gold to 8-5 overall and 4-4 in league play. Meanwhile, the Puprle Knights dipped to 5-8 and 2-6 versus NE-10 opposition.

Miller's eventual game-winning tally occurred just 9:09 into the opening half. On a rush back up the field, Miller put back a Steph Mocerino (Andover, N.J.) rebound for the lone goal of the contest.

LIU Post consistently challenged the Saint Michael's defense, as 12 of its 16 shots were on goal. Between the pipes, junior goalie Abigail Bowie (Readfield, Maine) made 10 saves for the Purple Knights.

Junior goalies Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) and Savanah Cummings (Midlothian, Va.) each played a half to preserve the shutout for the Pioneers, who held a commanding 16-3 advantage in shots and a 9-8 edge in penalty corners.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad continue their four-game homestand Wednesday (Oct. 21), when they host Pace University in an NE-10 showdown at 4 p.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
