BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2015) - Behind a four-goal effort from senior forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway), the LIU Post women's soccer team beat Nyack College, 8-0, in a non-conference match Thursday at Pioneer Soccer Park.
This marked the first time the Pioneers (7-1-1) netted eight goals since an 8-0 win over Mercy in 2009.
LIU Post scored early and often in the opening half. Less than four minutes into the contest, Vistnes put the green and gold on the board, off an assist from freshman forward
Angela Careddu (Flushing, N.Y.).
Three minutes later, Careddu fed a cross-pass to graduate forward
Kelsey Ferguson (Holtsville, N.Y.), who tapped in her second tally of 2015 to make it a 2-0 game.
The Pioneers would put up five unanswered goals in the first 45 minutes of play. Vistnes (two goals) and junior forward
Julia Backman (Morsil, Sweden) accounted for the markers.
In the second half, Vistnes, sophomore forward
Alex Lynn (Sydney, Australia) and freshman forward
Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) all found the back of the mesh to extend LIU Post's lead.
Head Coach
Mark Dawson and the Pioneers return to the pitch Saturday (Oct. 3), when they face No. 8 University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference tilt at Knights' Field in Bridgeport, Conn. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
