LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 17, 2015) - In its first meet of the New Year, the LIU Post swimming team routed Division I Siena, 158-126, on Saturday afternoon at the Siena Swim Center.
The Pioneers (5-2) placed one-two in eight of the 16 events on the afternoon. Five individual swimmers raced to a combined 10 first-place finishes.
Senior
Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) had three top times. She clocked a 1:06.63 in the 100-yard breaststroke, a 2:21.19 in the 200-yard breaststroke and a 4:29.63 in the 400-yard individual medley.
Senior
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden), along with juniors
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.), each posted a pair of first-place showings. Pettersson won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke with times of 58.26 and 2:05.82, respectively.
Brazier recorded first-place clockings in the 50- (24.59) and 100-yard freestyle (52.93) events, while Kwok was tops in the 100- (58.06) and 200-yard butterfly (2:06.86).
Freshman
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) came in first in the 200-yard freestyle, after touching the wall at 1:58.73. She also took second in the 100-free (55.00) and 100-fly (1:00.30).
Four other members of the green and gold joined Bendfeldt as second-place finishers. Freshman
Cristina Garcia Mauri (Malaga, Spain) individually swam to second-place times of 2:13.53 and 4:49.81 in the 200-back and 400-IM.
Fellow freshman
Erika Hultman (Bara, Sweden) placed second in two events, as well. She clocked a 2:14.11 in the 200-fly and a 2:31.46 in the 200-breast. Junior
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) added a second-place swim (1:00.35) in the 100-back. Additionally, she kicked off the 200-yard medley relay for LIU Post, which won the race at 1:48.28.
Lastly, freshman
Jacqueline Tonn (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) finished second in the longest distance event of the day. She clocked an 11:33.84 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

Maureen Travers and the Pioneers are back in action next Saturday (Jan. 24), when they host Wagner on Senior Day at the Pratt Natatorium at 1 p.m.
