Field Hockey Slips to Seventh in Latest NFHCA Poll
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Sept. 23, 2014) - The LIU Post field hockey team has dipped three places to No. 7 in Tuesday's National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II Poll.
Last Friday, the green and gold dropped a 3-2 overtime tilt at Saint Anselm. In come-from-behind fashion, the Pioneers (2-1) forced overtime on a
Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) equalizer with less than four minutes to go in the second half. Eight minutes into the extra session, however, the Hawks found the back of the cage to clinch the victory.
In just three games, LIU Post has outscored its opposition, 15-3, and outshot them as well, 83-7. The Pioneers' offensive attack has been led by Margiotta, who boasts eight goals and two assists for an 18-point output through the 2014 campaign. Graduate defender
Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa) continues to be vital for the back line, which is currently allowing their opponents only seven total shots and five penalty corners.
LIU Post is back in action on Tuesday (Sept. 23), when they face No. 5 East Stroudsburg in East Stroudsburg, Pa. at 4 p.m.
