Women's Golf Places 11th at Mount Holyoke Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 22, 2014)
- Over the weekend, the LIU Post women's golf team came in 11th out of 15 squads at the Mount Holyoke Invitational, held at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley.
 
Senior Nicole Przonek (Glen Head, N.Y.) recorded the lowest score in the program's brief history, shooting an 85 in the opening round of the invitational. At the par-five 13th hole, the senior recorded the team's first eagle when she sunk an 80-yard lob wedge on her third shot. In the second round, Przonek shot a 94.
 
Sophomore Shelby Townsend (Panora, Iowa) was second amongst the Pioneers in the first round, posting a 91. On Day Two, she shot an 88. Junior Hannah Pohalski (Huntington, N.Y.), who teed off first for the Pioneers, shot a 92 in the opening round and an 87 in the second round.
 
Senior Nokkie Koonvisal (Bangkok, Thailand) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers, shooting a 101 in both rounds.
 
Przonek, Towsend and Pohalski all finished with a final score of 179, which was tied for 38th out of 86 golfers. Koonvisal finished 72nd.
 
Head Coach Tom Kane and the Pioneers return to action next weekend (Sept. 27-28), when the green and gold compete at the Martin & Wallace Invitational in Cortland, N.Y.
