Women's Lacrosse Sweeps ECC Weekly Awards

Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) were tabbed as the East Coast Conference's weekly award recipients after two dominant wins.
The selections come on the heels of a 23-1 drubbing of Mercy and a 16-2 victory against Queens in the Pioneers' first two East Coast Conference contests of 2014. LIU Post improved to 8-0 with the wins, while extending their unbeaten streak to 31 consecutive games since 2012.
Sileo, the ECC Player of the Week for the second-straight week, registered a team-leading 15 points on six goals and nine assists. She totaled eight points (3 G, 5 A) versus Mercy, and followed that up with a seven-point performance (3 G, 4 A) at Queens. The Wantagh, N.Y. native currently leads all of NCAA Division II in points (61) and assists (37), while ranking 16th in goals (24).
In the cage, Hannan, the ECC Goalie of the Week, posted a 2-0 record, compiling a 0.69 goals-against average and an .833 save percentage. She also turned aside five shots between the two games. For the year, Hannan, who is now 8-0 overall, presently spearheads the country in goals-against average (3.38) and save percentage (.714).
Vagelatos, who garnered ECC Rookie of the Week kudos for the second time in 2014, collected five goals and four assists for a nine-point output. She won three ground balls and caused one turnover as well. The freshman scored a hat trick and added two assists against Mercy, before racking up a four-point day (2 G, 2 A) versus Queens.
The Pioneers return to action Thursday (Mar. 27), when they square off with Assumption in Worcester, Mass. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
