Women's Basketball Seeded Third in NCAA East Region Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 10, 2014) - On Sunday night, the LIU Post women's basketball team received an at-large bid to the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship, and claimed the No. 3 seed in the East Region. It is the highest seeding in program history,
The Pioneers wrapped up the regular season with a 21-5 overall record, including an 18-2 clip in East Coast Conference play. They earned a first-round bye in the ECC Women's Basketball Championship, and defeated NYIT to advance to the title game. However, LIU Post subsequently fell to UDC in the final, 67-57.
The green and gold will take on sixth-seeded Assumption (18-10, 13-8 NE-10) on Friday (Mar. 14) in the first round of the regional tournament. The two teams met in the regular season on Jan. 4.
