LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 6, 2014) - On Saturday, the LIU Post field hockey team came up short of hoisting the NCAA Division II National Championship, dropping a 1-0 decision to Millersville at Trager Stadium on the campus of the University of Louisville.
A 47th-minute tally by the Marauders' (20-3) Olivia Hershey (Lancaster, Pa.) was all it took to secure the opportunity of capturing the title.
Through 70 minutes of play, the Pioneers (18-4) attempted 13 total shots, and limited the opposition to only five. Sophomore goalkeeper Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) made one save between the pipes.
Seniors Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa), Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados) and Taylor-Bay Sutton (Phillipsburg, N.J.) were chosen to the 2014 NCAA All-Tournament squad, following the conclusion of the game.
The loss wraps up the 2014 campaign for the green and gold. For more information on the LIU Post field hockey program, please visit LIUPostPioneers.com.
