LILBURN, Ga. (Nov. 7, 2014) - On the heels of a run to the "Sweet 16" of last season's NCAA Tournament, the LIU Post women's basketball team recently earned votes in the WBCA/USA Today Division II Preseason Top-25 Poll.

The Pioneers won the East Coast Conference regular-season title in 2013-14, after going 24-7 overall, and 18-2 in ECC play. The green and gold were runners-up in the ECC Tournament and defeated Assumption and Adelphi, en route to reaching the NCAA East Region final.

LIU Post returns reigning ECC Player of the Year Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.), who was also named the conference's Preseason Player of the Year. The senior guard led the Pioneers with a 19.7 points-per-game average and a conference-best 85.7 percent marker at the free-throw line. Williams set program records for free throws, making 228 out of the 268 shots she took from the charity stripe.

West Texas A&M took top billing in the WBCA/USA Today tally, receiving eight first-place votes and a total of 704 points. That total edged out the 644 points earned by Cal Poly-Pomona, despite the Broncos being atop ten ballots among the voters. Drury was listed in the No. 3 position, while Nova Southeastern earned a first-place vote and collected enough points to hold down the fourth spot overall. Defending national champion Bentley rounded out the Top-5 in the poll. The Falcons received 11 first-place votes, but only 532 points overall.

LIU Post was picked second in the 2014-15 East Coast Conference Preseason Poll, behind last year's tournament champion, UDC.

Head Coach Deirdre Moore and the Pioneers open up the 2014-15 regular season at the ECC/NE-10 Challenge in Garden City, N.Y. The Pioneers will face Adelphi on Friday (Nov. 15) and Pace on Saturday (Nov. 16).
