Women's Fencing Duels at Temple Open
Final Results
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Nov. 3, 2014) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's fencing team kicked off its inaugural season at the 35th-annual Temple Open, held at Pearson-McGonigle Hall on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia.
In epee, senior
Alexa Parry (Setauket, N.Y.) placed 34th out of 61 entrees. Freshman
Chantelle Duncan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and sophomore
Kirstan Shaw (South Setauket, N.Y.) finished 41st and 54th, respectively.
In foil, Parry went on to finish 79th out of 88 fencers. Additionally, freshman
Natalie Guerino (San Francisco, Calif.) was 71st out of 84 sabre fencers and
Elya Shavrova (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed 83rd out of 84 in sabre.
"These girls have been fencing for a month and a half or less," Head Coach
Mike Corona said of the effort. "It was a learning experience and I'm proud of the way they performed."
Corona and the Pioneers are back in action at the Vassar Mega-Meet on Sunday (Nov. 16).
