COLCHESTER, Vt. (Nov. 1, 2014) - Powered by a Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) goal, the No. 5 LIU Post field hockey team bested Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Michael's, 1-0, on Saturday at Duffy Field.

Through the first 35 minutes of action, the Pioneers (11-2, 7-1 NE-10) attempted four shots, but could not convert them into early points. At 41:15, graduate defender Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa) found Margiotta inside the circle to give the green and gold the only offensive strike needed.

Margiotta has 24 of LIU Post's 53 goals on the season, to go along with 10 assists. She currently leads all of Division II with a 1.91 goals-per-game average. As a whole, the Pioneers rank first in the nation with a 4.21 scoring average.

In the contest, the LIU Post offense registered 21 total shots, while a strong back line allowed the Purple Knights (8-6, 4-3 NE-10) no attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) collected her ninth victory in the cage this year.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and the Pioneers are back in action Tuesday (Nov. 4), when they square off with Southern New Hampshire in an NE-10 showdown at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 4 p.m. in Brookville, N.Y.
