Field Hockey Remains Sixth in NFHCA Top-10 Poll

CHANDLER, Ariz. (Oct. 7, 2014) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post field hockey team stood pat at No. 6 in the latest 2014 Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II Top-10 Poll.

Last week, the Pioneers picked up a pair of wins with a 2-1 overtime victory against Adelphi (Sept. 30), and an 8-0 drubbing of Franklin Pierce (Oct. 5). LIU Post broke out for 26 points (10 goals, six assists) between the two games, while limiting opponents to only eight total shots.

Junior forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) currently leads the green and gold in scoring, boasting 14 goals and four assists for 32 points. She also spearheads all of Division II in goals per game with a 2.33 average. Senior forward Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados W.I.), who ranks second in the country in assists per game, has been an offensive threat (nine points) as well in 2014.

Reigning Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa) continues to anchor a back line that has allowed just 23 shots against through six contests, and helped the green and gold boast the No. 1 scoring margin (3.90) in the nation. 

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 11), when they square off with No. 10 Merrimack in an NE-10 tilt at 11 a.m. in North Andover, Mass.
