Women's Cross Country Ranked Seventh in USTFCCCA East Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Oct. 1, 2014) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post women's cross country team was slotted seventh in the USTFCCCA Division II East Region Poll. The Pioneers jumped one spot from last week's No. 8 ranking.

This past Saturday (Sept. 27), LIU Post competed at the Codfish Bowl, and came in fourth out of 12 squads. Freshman and two-time reigning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) bested all female runners with her 18:57 clocking. Junior Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished just over a minute (20:13) after Williams, placing 18th. Senior Shaylyn Stehl (Wantagh, N.Y.) crossed at a 22nd-place time of 20:22.

Stonehill, Roberts Wesleyan and Assumption remained the elite of the East Region for the second week in a row. Saint Michael's stood tall in fourth, whereas Saint Anselm (No. 5), Adelphi (No. 6), LIU Post (No. 7) and Southern New Hampshire (No. 8) each moved up one notch. Philadelphia and St. Thomas Aquinas rounded out the tally

Head Coach Rob Morris and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Oct. 4), when they run at the NJIT Highlander Challenge in Jersey City, N.J.
