Women's Swimming Upends Siena, 130-124

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 18, 2014) - In its first home meet since November, the LIU Post swimming team kicked past Division I program Siena, 130-124, Saturday at the Pratt Natatorium in Brookville, N.Y. The victory is the Pioneers' seventh in a row.
Junior
Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) posted Top-5 all-time marks in three different events. She was first in each race as well. Rademacher clocked a 1:06.82 (fifth-best) in the 100-yard breaststroke, a 2:22.85 (fourth-best) in the 200-yard breaststroke, and a 4:29.54 (second-best) in the 400-yard individual medley.
Sophomore
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) won the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, after touching the pad at 57.63 and 2:08.70, respectively. Meanwhile, sophomore
Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway) beat her opposition in the 50- (24.58) and 100-yard freestyle (53.34) races.
Junior
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) chipped in a first-place effort in the 200-breast, notching a time of 2:22.95. She also finished just behind teammate
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) in the 100-back with a 59.23. Brazier was less than a second better at 59.09.
In the 400-yard medley relay, the opening event of the dual, Pettersson, Kwok, Brazier and senior
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia, Canada) recorded a first-place clocking of 3:57.51. Two events later, sophomore
Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) added a win (1:59.24) in the 200-free.
For Siena (1-2), sophomore Megan Grace (Dalton, Mass.) was victorious in both long distance races. She clocked a 5:19.29 in the 500-yard freestyle, and a 10:47.54 in the 1,000-free.
Head Coach
Maureen Travers and her LIU Post squad return to action next Saturday (Jan. 25), when they welcome in Bridgeport on Senior Day. The meet is set for a 1 p.m. start.
