Sutton Garners Northeast-10 Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (Sept. 23, 2013) - On Monday, junior defender Taylor-Bay Sutton (Phillipsburg, N.J.) of the LIU Post field hockey team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

In three victories on the week for the No. 5 Pioneers, Sutton helped limit Adelphi, Dowling, and Saint Michael's to a combined 15 shot attempts (including just one to Dowling), 0.67 goals scored per game, and 13 penalty corners, while her Pioneers outmatched the trio with 81 shots and 33 penalty corners of their own.

The LIU Post defense has held their opponents to a Division II-best goals against average of 0.60, while the squad has the highest scoring margin in the nation at 3.97.

Sutton and the Pioneers are back in action Tuesday (Sept. 24), as they host Southern Connecticut State at Hickox Field for a 4 p.m. match-up.
