COLCHESTER, Vt. (Sept. 21, 2013) - On Saturday, graduate midfielder Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa) and senior forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored just 5:20 apart in the opening stanza, lifting the fifth-ranked LIU Post field hockey team by Saint Michael's, 2-0, at Duffy Field in Colchester, Vt.

Crouse's tally came off the Pioneers' first shot in the game. With 6:29 elapsed, she backhanded the ball past Purple Knights' junior goalkeeper Sarah Healey (Canton, Mass.), which gave the visitors an early 1-0 cushion. The marker was the second of the year for the Westville, South Africa native.

Five minutes later, Dragon joined in, and added an insurance goal. On the play, Crouse, who ended up with three points (1 G,  1 A) on the morning, fed Dragon at the left wing. The green and gold's current-leading scorer subsequently fired the opportunity home, and doubled LIU Post's advantage to 2-0.

Saint Michael's (2-4) had a strong finish to the half though, recording the final four shots on goal. However, freshman netminder Meredith Stocklin (Mount Laurel, N.J.) stopped each of those chances to preserve the shutout at the break. Stocklin finished the contest with four saves.

During the latter half, the Pioneers (5-0) commanded the pace of play. They outshot the opposition by an overwhelming 11-0 count, en route to securing the victory.

Overall, LIU Post owned an 18-7 clip in shots, and an 8-5 edge in penalty corners. Dragon attempted a game-high eight shots (five SOG). Junior forward Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados), who hit the crossbar in the first half, and sophomore forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) added two shots apiece.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and the Pioneers are back at it Tuesday (Sept. 24), when they host Southern Connecticut State in a Northeast-10 Conference tilt at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. The opening whistle is set for 4 p.m.
